Hope – (noun) a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen; (verb) want something to happen or be the case.
Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Romans 12:12
Hope is something that we as humans experience every day. It is a natural instinct, a natural occurrence in the human mind. However, we must always remember that we are meant to hope for the good things. Hope for the best in everything. There are countless references to hope in the Bible. Which means that God wants and expects us to hope. Never forget to tell God what you are hoping for! Even though he already knows, he likes to hear it straight from your mouth…
Now, although there are things that we hope for, that doesn’t always mean that it will happen in our time. We just have to remember that all things happen in His time! But if our hopes are pure and right, then God will deliver when he feels that we are ready for it!
The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance. For to this end we toil and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe. 1 Timothy 4:9-10
Peace – (noun) freedom from disturbance; quiet and tranquility; freedom from or the cessation of war or violence.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Philippians 4:6
Peace, what a wonderful, wonderful thing. We must never forget to have peace in our hearts and minds. The world may be buzzing with craziness around us, but we can always find peace with God. Let the trials and tribulations around you go, seek and trust God, and everything will work out!
This, I know, is a very difficult thing. We are so used to trying to create peace ourselves. Trying to handle everything on our own. Crying out to God to help us, but never actually letting it go so He can handle it. Then of course we get frustrated and ask Him why he didn’t resolve it or help. And all he can say in return is “you didn’t let me”. So find peace! Let Go and Let God!!!!
You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Isaiah 26:3
Faith – (noun) complete trust or confidence in someone or something; strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof.
And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. Hebrews 11:6
This is another thing, just like peace, that can be very difficult for our human minds to conceive. Again, we are so used to controlling our surroundings that the thought of letting go and letting God handle it is hard. But we must have faith, and trust in Him to do all of the things that we expect Him to do! We also need to have faith in Him when there is something that He speaks to us about, or when there is something that He asks us to do.
For we walk by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7
Believe – (verb) accept something as true; feel sure of the truth of; hold something as an opinion; think or suppose.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that who so ever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
The act that ties all of these things together is believing. We must believe, we must trust, we must have faith in Him. Without belief our prayers are like letters sent without an address. We cannot pray and ask for things and then just keep our fingers crossed and watch what happens. We must truly believe that God will do and handle these things. That is why we must study and read and learn about Him, because although we cannot physically see Him we must believe that he is there! And when we believe He will find ways to show us that He is there!
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. Romans 15:13
