Live, Laugh, Love…..
This today is such a common phrase that we see on everything. We have it hanging on our walls as art, we tattoo it on our body, we wear it on our t-shirts, and we drink out of coffee cups that have it printed across it. But do we truly follow this little guideline? It sounds so simple and so inspirational and something that we should bring into our everyday lives. Let’s look into it a little deeper.
The definition of live is to remain alive. But there is so much more to it than that! Remaining alive is of course huge (and very important) but there is a much bigger picture. I don’t believe we were put on this earth simply to survive and to, well, not die. But just existing is not enough to me! And I know darn well that isn’t what I was put on this earth to do! I want to THRIVE! And I truly believe that God wants me, and everyone to thrive. To live to our full potential. We each have our own separate paths, but there is a big plan for each and every one of us. We were placed on this incredibly beautiful planet to thrive and to take care of it and of course to enjoy it.
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11
Go out and LIVE, enjoy the world, enjoy the people who were placed in your life. Being a Christian and spiritual doesn’t mean that you have to sit in a room with your nose in the bible twenty-four-seven. Yes, the Word is extremely important, but it was one of the gifts that the Lord gave to us. There is a whole world out there to connect with Him in! Take advantage of that! LIVE!
Spontaneous sounds and movements of the face and body that are the natural expressions of delight, pleasure, and joy are laughter. Laughing is a sign of happiness. I am not talking about the little snickers we give when we are mildly amused. I am talking about the full bodied laughs that brighten the body from the eyes to the soul. Laughing is healthy. I hate when I see people who claim to be Christians and they seem to be the most miserable of people with a permanent scowl on their face. It breaks my heart. Nowhere in the Bible does it say that God wants us to be solemn and quiet and to not enjoy things. He wants us to have joy from everything in life, because everything in our lives are gifts from Him!
A glad heart makes a cheerful face, but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is crushed. Proverbs 15:13
So we must make the best out of our situations. Even if we are going through trying times, joy can still be found if we trust in Him. Enjoy the little things and the big things. Enjoy the fact that you are alive and in this beautiful World with a Father that loves you to no bounds!
Love is an intense feeling of deep affection. It is healthy and good to love everyone around you. Whether or not you are displeased with that person or not. It simply is not good to not love them! However, you can love someone but choose to not be around that person. But we must always keep love in our hearts. Negative emotions and feelings cloud the heart and can cause strife in the rest of our lives, and of course can hinder us from being full on in His grace and glory!
And above all these put love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. Colossians 3:14
Time and time again throughout the Bible it talks about how important love is. From experience I know this to be true. When I hold negative feelings towards someone it seems to put up a kind of wall within myself and I have a hard time staying on track! It just isn’t worth not loving. But I know too that I can LOVE someone without liking what they have done or what they do.
So the next time you see something with these three words on it let it remind you to live by it, to not just quote it and say it. We need to begin every day with this little reminder because these are things that will help to keep up on the path that the Lord is leading us on.
